Scott spent his early years in Marysville, Washington, before his family moved to Jerome, Idaho, where he graduated from High School.
After a stint in the U.S. Navy (Desert Shield/Desert Storm - 1988-1991), where he was an illustrator/draftsman, Scott enrolled in the art program at the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls.
He continued his education at Bismarck State College, in North Dakota, where he earned a degree in Commercial Art/ Graphic Design, and began working as an artist for several local-regional printing and publishing companies.
After earning a degree in Business Management at the University of Mary in Bismarck, Scott moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 2006. Then, in 2013, he moved back to Everett, Washington, the place of his birth, to be closer to family.
His keen interest in fine art has continued since his youth,
and has led him to where he is today—a dedicated and
talented artist with a number of quality acrylic architectural
and landscape paintings to his credit that have received high accolades wherever he has shown them.
In early 2019, Scott will open his online business to sell prints of his work, and reproductions on a number of products, including greeting cards, cups & mugs, t-shirts, and more.
David Luyben
A native of Bismarck, North Dakota, Dave’s life-long passion has been drawing, photography, graphic design and writing. Travel has also been a passion, which has taken him to Europe, Canada, Mexico, and from the southern tip of Florida to the northwestern tip of Washington State, adding a trip to Hawaii somewhere in between.
Sometime after receiving his B.S. degree from NDSU, Dave moved to Oregon and continued his education at the Commercial Art School in Portland, where he became proficient in pencil portrait drawing, among other things. His education continued during his decade-long career as a graphic designer in Portland, and eventually, as an assistant professor of graphic design and desktop publishing at Bismarck State College over a 21- year period, where he was a multi-year recipient of “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers”.
Now “retired”, and an award-winning photographer and designer, Dave is currently editor/designer of “Scandinavian Press”, a quarterly 54-page publication with news from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, and of those worldwide who share the Nordic Heritage—a true labor of love.
An avid “people-watcher”, Dave continues his passion for portrait drawing as he sees those “special faces” everywhere that he’d like to transform into a drawing. Sharing his interest in portrait sketching with others is a way of “giving back” to those who have given him so much over the years.
